Since its launch in all stores in 2017, Apple is bringing an original initiative called Today At Apple. This is a program created to connect with other people, discover a new passion, learn some new skills, and show how technology and art go hand in hand.
Focusing on topics like photography, video, music, art and design, Today at Apple is also a platform for local talents, where creators can share their experiences and insights. On October 2, 2019, I had an incredible opportunity to collaborate with Apple and The Big Draw, participating in one of these sessions at the Apple Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
My first workshop during Hispanic Heritage Month was an absolute delight! Imagine this: me, not a native English speaker, leading a spirited 90-minute session. It was a bit like a dance, carefully choosing words and sidestepping any language hiccups. But hey, isn't that the spice of life?
Collaborating with Apple, now that's a story! They're not just a big name; they're the epitome of professionalism. When they called me up for 'Today At Apple', I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. But, as they say, life's all about grabbing those chances, even if you're still tying your shoelaces while running!
The workshop was a whirlwind of three fun-filled parts. First, we had the 'Inspiration Station', where I chatted about everything from my art style and eureka moments to my creative process. I even shared some top-secret tips and tools!
Next up, we dove into the digital world with Procreate. It was like cooking together; I was showing everyone how to whip up one of my artworks, step-by-step, adding a pinch of personal advice along the way.
And the grand finale? A hands-on fiesta with iPads and Apple Pencils! Everyone got down to business, trying out the techniques I shared. We wrapped up with a mini-exhibition of everyone's work. It was like a mini art gala!
Reflecting on it, these workshops are more than just learning; they're about connecting, unleashing creativity, and daring to jump into new experiences. And let me tell you, it's totally worth the leap!
Thank you to all the people who attended. I loved seeing your interest on my work. I considered it a moment of mutual learning.
